This is Solipsist, an art film by Andrew Thomas Huang. When I first saw it, I thought it was so stunning. If you look at the behind the scenes video, Huang seamlessly melds 3D generated forms with actual crafted forms/ropes that he made in real life. My favorite scene is when the men melt into sand and converge into one, which starts off a chain of events leading to a cathartic ending. It’s absolutely beautiful, and the way he manages to achieve some of the effects (growing tendrils) is so clever!
