I’m pretty sure that everything I make is figurative and some kind of moving picture so I really appreciate interesting work that uses those two things. It is silly how each of these characters is in a small enclosed room, lying down, and waiting for you to look at them. I do feel like Lozano-Hemmer could have found a more interesting way to show the shadow of the viewer than just turning the lights on in these surreal spaces. At the very least he could have done the opposite, so that the viewer isn’t put in such a place of importance. There also seems to be a real lack of color and empathy. This is one of a couple interactive works we have seen that uses these bird’s eye perspective videos of a variety of people. I do not think this is the most interesting use of that footage but this kind of shot is definitely something to consider.
