One of my favorite Processing artists, Dave Whyte, creates animated gifs. Below is a link to his Tumblr and a gif of one of my favorites.
The trait that I admire the most about this project is how simplistic and cleanly animated the gif is. It’s also a great bait and switch since the viewer first sees it as a small hexagon rotating inside a larger one but then the “hexagon” rotates on different axis and reveals that it is a cube. Whyte works on these projects himself and he uses p5.js and CSS. It’s possible that he was inspired by the works of the minimalist movement, especially Josef Albers for his defined shapes and color relationship. Whyte has an extensive portfolio of his work online, so this can easily lead to commissions and a career as a web designer.
